Free crochet pattern: Hanging Flower

Hi!

Today I have a slightly different kind of pattern for you. I've been wanting to make a hanging crochet flower for a while now and here it is! A simple design for a beautiful plant that will work as a unique home decoration.

In this project I use Schachenmayr Catania (50g/125m) yarn. You can use any yarn in your work. Please note that if you use a different yarn, the size may be different.

Finished size approximately - length 17 cm (without stripes).

Yarn colours:
  • colour A - Schachenmayr Catania NR 245 - Green
  • colour B - Schachenmayr Catania NR 162 - Dark brown
  • colour C - Schachenmayr Catania NR 179 - Camel
  • colour D - Schachenmayr Catania NR 106 - White

You can use any colours you like <3

1. Before you start

  • In the project I use US terminology.
  • You can use any yarn in your project.
  • If you have trouble pulling the yarn through, use a smaller hook to help.

  • Hook - 3 mm
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch markers
  • Stuffing fibre

3. Abbreviations:

  • MR - magic ring
  • FLO - front loop only
  • BLO - back loop only
  • AL - all loops
  • FO - fasten off
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease 
  • ch - chain
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • sc - single crochet
  • dc - double crochet - sÅ‚upek
  • tr - triple crochet

FO. Stuff the pot.

Soil:
1. B: 8 sc in MR (8)

FO. Leave a long piece of yarn for sewing.


Stem with leaves (x7):

To make the pattern more readable, I replaced "6 dc, 2 ch, 4 dc, tr, 3 ch, sl st" with the word “leaf”.

Before you start making the chain, leave a piece of yarn - you will need it for sewing.
1. A: 5 ch
2. In the 4th stitch from the crochet hook make - 6 dc, 2 ch, 4 dc, tr, 3 ch, sl st
3. Sl st in the chain next to the leaf, 6 ch 
4. In the 4th stitch from the crochet hook, make - 6 dc, 2 ch, 4 dc, tr, 3 ch, sl st
5. Sl st in the chain next to the leaf, 12 ch 
6. In the 4th stitch from the crochet hook make the leaf


7. Sl st in the chain next to the leaf, 6 ch 
8. In the 4th stitch from the crochet hook make the leaf
9. Sl st in the chain next to the leaf, 12 ch 
10. In the 4th stitch from the crochet hook make the leaf
11. Sl st in the chain next to the leaf, 6 ch 
12. In the 4th stitch from the crochet hook make the leaf
13. Sl st in the chain next to the leaf, 12 ch 
14. In the 4th stitch from the crochet hook make the leaf
15. Sl st in the chain next to the leaf, 6 ch

FO. Hide and cut the end of the yarn.



Assembly:
  • Sew the soil inside the pot, round 18 BLO.
  • Sew the stems with leaves to the soil at your discretion.
  • To make your plant hang, make 3 stripes, each 30 ch long. Leave the small tips of the yarn to tie the ends of the 3 stripes together. Sew the strips to the pot and tie the ends.
