Cookie Crab: Free crochet pattern
Hi crochet friends!
Today I would like to share with you my pattern for an adorable crab. This is one of my no-sew patterns. Sweet cookie crab is not difficult to make. The pattern includes basic crochet stitches. I'm sure you will have fun crocheting. π
In this project I use YarnArt Dolce (100g/120m) yarn. You can use any super bulky or bulky yarn in your work. Just remember that when using a different yarn, the size of the mascot may be different.
You can use completely different colours of yarn, it's up to you. π
Finished size approximately - width 19 cm, length 10 cm.
Yarn colours (less than 1 skein each):
- colour A - YarnArt Dolce NR 747 - Light brown
- colour B - YarnArt Dolce NR 791 - Brown

1. Before you start
- In the project I use US terminology.
- We work in a spiral, adding the filling while crocheting.
- You can use any plush yarn in your project.
- If you have trouble pulling the yarn through, use a smaller hook to help.

2. Materials
- Hook - 5 mm
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Stitch markers
- Stuffing fibre
- Yarn
- Black embroidery thread
- Safety eyes - 12 mm or any you want
3. Abbreviation
- MR - magic ring
- BLO - back loop only
- inc - increase
- dec - decrease
- sl st - slip stitch
- sc - single crochet
4. Instruction
Legs (x6):
1. A: 6 sc in MR (6)
2-4. 6 sc (6) (3 rounds)
Don't stuff the legs.
Fold in half and close with 3 sc.
Leave a short piece of yarn to additionally secure the legs inside the body.
Claws (x2):
1. A: 6 sc in MR (6)
2-3. 6 sc (6) (2 rounds)
Fasten off. Stuff first part of claws.
Leave a short piece of yarn to sew up the hole left by connecting the crab claws together.

Connect:
3-4. 12 sc (12) (2 rounds)
5. (2 sc, dec) x3 (9)
6. (sc, dec) x3 (6)
7. 6 sc (6)
Stuff the claws.
Fold in half and close with 3 sc.
Leave a short piece of yarn to additionally secure the claws inside the body.
Sew up the hole between the pieces of crab claw.
Body:
1. A: 8 sc in MR (8)
2. 8 inc (16)
3. (sc, inc) x8 (24)
4. (2 sc, inc) x8 (32)
5. (3 sc, inc) x8 (40)
6. (4 sc, inc) x8 (48)
7-8. 48 sc (48) (2 rounds)
9. BLO: (4 sc, dec) x2, 3 sc + CLAWS, sc, dec, (4 sc, dec) x2, 3 sc + CLAWS, sc, dec, (4 sc, dec) x2 (40)
Place the claws with the shorter part inwards as shown in the photo below.

Place safety eyes between rounds 7 and 8, 6 stitches apart.

Stuff the body.
Fasten off and close the hole by pulling your tail through the front loops of stitches and pull.
Assembly:
- Embroider the mouth between the eyes.
- Embroider chocolate pieces.
- If you want, embroider pink cheeks.
