Cactus: Free crochet pattern

Hello!

Do you like flowers but don't know how to take care of them or forget to water them? I have a solution for you, a lovely crocheted cactus that blooms all year round and doesn't need watering. 😊

A creative idea for an interesting home decoration or a gift for a friend. You can adapt the pattern to your needs by choosing your favorite colours of yarn.

In this project I use YarnArt Dolce (100g/120m) yarn. You can use any super bulky or bulky yarn in your work. Just remember that when using a different yarn, the size of the mascot may be different. You can use completely different colours of yarn, it's up to you. 😊

Finished size approximately - 12 cm.

Yarn colours (less than 1 skein each):

• colour A - YarnArt Dolce NR 855 - Dark nude
• colour B - YarnArt Dolce NR 791 - Brown
• colour C - YarnArt Dolce NR 799 - Apple green
• colour D - YarnArt Dolce NR 769 - Rose pink
• colour E - YarnArt Dolce NR 851 - Lemon

1. Before you start

• In the project I use US terminology.
• We work in a spiral, adding the filling while crocheting.
• You can use any plush yarn in your project.
• If you have trouble pulling the yarn through, use a smaller hook to help.

2. Abbreviation

• MR - magic ring
• BLO - back loop only
• FLO - front loop only
• inc - increase
• dec - decrease
• sl st - slip stitch
• sc - single crochet
• hdc - half double crochet
• dc - double crochet

3. Materials

• Hook - 5 mm
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors
• Stitch markers
• Stuffing fibre
• Yarn

4. Instruction

Pot:
1. A: 8 sc in MR (8)
2. 8 inc (16)
3. (sc, inc) x8 (24)
4. (in the back stitch)* 24 sc(24)
5-9. 24 sc (24) (5 rounds)
10. BLO: B: (sc, dec) x8 (16)
11. 8 dec (8)
12. 4 dec (4)

Stuff the pot.

Fasten off and close the hole by pulling your tail through the front loops of stitches and pull. 

Return to row 10, join the yarn and make:
10. FLO: A: 24 sc (24)

* Imagine a chain. Looking straight ahead, you have a front chain loop, a back chain loop and a stitch completely at the back, as if on the other side of the chain. We make row 4 in this back stitch, as if from the inside of the pot.

Cactus:
1. C: 6 sc in MR (6)
2. 6 inc (12)
3. (sc, inc) x6 (18)
4-8. 18 sc (18) (5 rounds)
9. (4 sc, dec) x3 (15)
10-11. 15 sc (15) (2 rounds)
12. (3 sc, dec) x3 (12)
13. 12 sc (12)

Stuff the cactus.

Fasten off and close the hole by pulling your tail through the front loops of stitches and pull. 

Small part (x2):
1. C: 6 sc in MR (6)
2. 6 sc (6)
3. sl st

Leave a long piece of yarn for sewing. Fasten off.

Flower:
1. D: 6 sc in MR (6)
2. C: each st: sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc (6 flower petals)

Leave a long piece of yarn for sewing. Fasten off.

Assembly:

• Sew the cactus to the soil in the pot so that the cactus is in the center.
• Sew the small parts to the cactus as shown in the photo below.
• Sew the flower to the cactus as shown in the photo below.
